Financial History and Funder Patterns

YouthExpress NM is a not-for-profit corporation registered with the State of New Mexico with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status as determined by the Internal Revenue Service.

YouthExpress NM derives directly from the nonprofit REEL FATHERS, which served fathers, youth and families in Santa Fe and the surrounding region for 15 years. The staff, board of directors, and advisory board of YouthExpress NM remain very much the same. Because our mission has not so much changed as narrowed in focus, we expect to maintain our longstanding relationships with individual donors, foundations, government agencies, and sources of earned income.

In 2023, individual donors contributed 52% of our income. Foundations and government agencies contributed 14%. Earned income accounted for 34% of income. We operate with exceptionally low personnel and administrative costs. Our programs and events are accomplished with one full-time staff member, the executive director. All other staff work with us as independent contractors.
